Grandma’s Garden

Grandma’s Garden

Grandma’s Garden İngilizce B1

Sophie visited her grandmother every Sunday afternoon. Her grandma lived in a small house with a large backyard. The most beautiful part of the backyard was the garden. It was full of colors—red roses, yellow sunflowers, green herbs, and small orange tomatoes. Sophie loved the smell of fresh soil and plants. It reminded her of summer and happy times.

One Sunday in spring, Grandma stood by the garden gate with a small shovel in her hand.

“Do you want to help me today?” she asked with a warm smile.

Sophie nodded. “Yes! What are we planting?”

“Basil, lettuce, and some strawberries,” Grandma replied. “But first, we need to pull out the weeds.”

Sophie put on gloves and knelt beside her grandmother. The sun was warm, and birds were singing in the trees. They worked side by side, pulling weeds and loosening the soil.

“I didn’t know gardening was so much work,” Sophie said after a while.

Grandma laughed. “It is, but it’s also relaxing. You care for something, and then you watch it grow.”

As they planted the seeds, Grandma explained how much water each plant needed and where the sunlight was best. She used simple words and clear examples, so Sophie understood easily.

Later, they watered the garden with a green watering can. The water made the soil dark and soft. Sophie felt proud of her work.

“You did a great job,” Grandma said. “Come back next week, and we’ll see if anything starts to grow.”

Sophie smiled. “I will. I want to grow my own tomato plant.”

The next Sunday, Sophie returned with a notebook. She wanted to write down everything Grandma said about gardening. Each week, they worked together. They planted new flowers, trimmed bushes, and checked the growth of the vegetables.

After a month, Sophie’s tomato plant had tiny green fruits. She showed them to Grandma, who clapped her hands.

“You’re a real gardener now,” she said proudly.

Over the summer, Sophie’s notebook filled with drawings, notes, and even pressed flower petals. Gardening had become more than a hobby. It was time spent with her grandmother, learning something new and enjoying nature.

Years later, Sophie still remembered those Sundays. Every time she touched a plant, she thought of Grandma’s smile and their shared afternoons in the garden.
