A Weekend in Barcelona İngilizce B1
Maria had always wanted to visit Spain. After working for months without a break, she finally booked a weekend trip to Barcelona. She felt excited but also nervous. It was her first time traveling alone.
On Friday afternoon, she arrived at El Prat Airport. The sun was shining, and the air smelled of the sea. She took a taxi to her hotel in the city center. The receptionist gave her a map and suggested a few places to visit.
Maria started with a walk down La Rambla. The street was full of people, music, and small shops. She bought fresh fruit from a market and watched a street artist draw a portrait of a smiling child.
Later, she visited the Gothic Quarter. The narrow streets and old buildings made her feel like she had stepped back in time. At a small café, she ordered tapas and listened to soft Spanish music.
The next morning, she took the metro to Park Güell. Designed by Antoni Gaudí, the park was full of colorful mosaics and unusual shapes. She took many photos and sat on a curved bench, enjoying the view of the city below.
In the afternoon, she visited the famous Sagrada Família. The large church was even more beautiful than in the pictures. Maria stood in silence, looking up at the tall towers and the light shining through the stained glass windows.
That evening, she joined a small cooking class. The group prepared paella together, laughed, and shared stories. The teacher, Javier, explained each step and taught them a few Spanish words.
“Travel is not only about places,” he said. “It’s also about people.”
Maria smiled. “I think I’ll remember this evening for a long time.”
On Sunday, she had one last walk by the beach. Children played in the sand, and older couples walked hand in hand. She took a deep breath of salty air and felt calm.
Back at the airport, Maria looked at her photos. She felt proud. She had explored a new city, tried new food, and made new friends.
“Next time,” she whispered to herself, “maybe Madrid.”
She smiled and boarded the plane, already dreaming of her next trip.
